CEO
Joe completed his graduate education with Prof. Roger Linington at Simon Fraser University, designing tools to facilitate metabolomics and natural product discovery using NMR. An avid natural products enthusiast, Joe is keen on the design, evaluation, and practical use of new technologies to explore the chemical world.
Sydney Thomas, PhD
Director of Research
Sydney has been working with mass spectrometers since high school. As a postdoc in Prof. Pieter Dorrestein’s lab, Sydney became well-versed in metabolomics from the bench top to the desktop. A perpetual student of big data and statistical analysis, Sydney is eager to use her expertise to help clients get the most out of their chemical data.
Amy Lau
Scientific Data Processing Engineer
Amy earned a B.S. in Data Science while conducting undergraduate research in Prof. Ming Wang’s lab, where she developed an interactive web application for visualizing spectral alignments in molecular networks. Her work at Ometa Labs focuses on the algorithms and tools that enable exploration and analysis of mass spectrometry data.
Pieter C. Dorrestein, PhD
Scientific Advisor & Co-Founder
Pieter serves as a scientific advisor to Ometa Labs, having co-founded the company with Ming. Pieter’s lab focuses on pushing the boundaries of mass spectrometry analysis through the use of new data mining techniques and tools, such as GNPS. Pieter’s work highlights the hidden chemical world around us from microbial genomics to the human microbiome.
Mingxun Wang, PhD
Scientific Advisor & Co-Founder
Over his career, Ming’s work has spanned many omics fields. Ming’s lab focuses on algorithms, scaleable analysis platforms, and interactive visualizations. Together with Prof. Pieter Dorrestein and Prof. Nuno Bandeira, Ming helped to establish a new paradigm of collaborative crowd-sourced research in natural products and metabolomics.
Isaac Sung, PhD
Scientific Data Processing Engineer
Isaac's love of programming started in the 5th grade and has never let up. He has spent his career at the intersection of education and technology, teaching Computer and Data Science at a PUI and building complex, user-friendly software for a nonprofit. He is passionate about developing UX and algorithms that both delight and empower the scientists who rely on them.
